Seems like the cop flicks of the 80s, the OTT revenge dramas, and the dialoguebaazi is making a comeback in Hindi cinema in a big way. Back are the times when the audience can actually scream in joy, clap and even whistle on the hero blurting ‘Don’t angry me’ or ‘Joh Main Bolta Hu, Who Main Karta Hu, Aur jo main nahi bolta hu, wo main definitely karta hun.’ Prabhu Deva who gave us ‘Wanted’ is back with ‘Rowdy Rathore’ and how. The film has a complete mass appeal with Akshay Kumar bringing back the heroism. It has entertainment written all over it.

Shiva (Akshay Kumar), a small time con man falls in love with Paro (Sonakshi Sinha). He now wants to leave his current endeavors and live a common man’s life. But before that he attempts a big loot that will settle his life forever. To his surprise, this big loot is a six year old girl who calls him papa (dad) and suddenly thousands of goons appear who want to kill the two. Why? What? How? Watch Rowdy Rathore to find out.

‘Rowdy Rathore’ is a remake of Telugu film Vikramakudu that was also made in Tamil as Siruthai. Both the films were big hit and Prabhu Deva makes sure that the Hindi remake too will hit bull eye by adding all the necessary masala elements to it and making it a wonderful cinematic experience. There is comedy, romance, action, emotions and the punches that make it worth your penny spent. And to top it all Kareena Kapoor and Ilaya Thalapati Vijay make a cameo.

Akshay Kumar is back to action after a hiatus of seven years and makes an impression as the rowdy rathore and even as a little funny Shiva. He adds his own charm to the character and that is worth lauding. Sonakshi Sinha has the nakhras and the adahs of a heroine. She looks demure and completely fits in character. The lady can sure deliver some hard-hitting dialogues. Nassar is good, while Yashpal Sharma and Sunitha, the lady who plays a sub inspector show extreme talent.  Paresh Ganatra too is an interesting watch.

There are little moments in the film that manage to bring a smile on your face, like Sonakshi jumping and bursting a Frooti pack, Akshay rewinding visuals of Sonakshi passing by, his con mind visualizing jewelries floating and omitting the people wearing them. Yes, there are moments that are melodramatic and look made –up but they can be overlooked. Santosh Thundiyil’s cinematography deserves a special mention. Music is average but the background score completely makes up for it. However, I loved the Preetam Pyaare song, the three ladies killed it and Prabhu Deva’s choreography completely stands out. The film could have been crispier but I ain’t complaining coz it’s a complete package that we have been longing for since quite some time.
