Fly flies high

Director S S Rajamouli, who is often referred as ‘Shankar of Tollywood’, has lived up to his sobriquet in his maiden straight Tamil venture Naan Ee titled as Eega in Telugu.

The film is glossy, grandeur and glitzy from scene one. Taking a wafer thin story in hand, Rajamouli has given it a royal treatment, in the form of screenplay and making.

There is no Eega without computer graphics, as the director has relied heavily on visual effects to make his film strike a chord with the audience. And it has paid him rich dividends, though the cost and efforts are understandably heavy.

The film revolves around Sudeep (Sudeep), a leading and wicked businessman who wins over almost every girl he meets. He comes across beautiful Bindu (Samantha) and it’s lust at first sight.

But Bindu is not ready to pay heed to Sudeep, as she is in love with Nani (Nani). The cunning Sudeep ensures that Nani gets killed. But the young man takes rebirth, as a fly.

The rest is all about how the housefly teaches a lesson or two to Sudeep, of course with the help of Bindu.

Telugu actor Nani, who was seen in the Tamil film Veppam earlier, has delivered a commendable performance. Samantha is beautiful and has been given a meaty role.

But the scene stealer is Sudeep. The top Kannada hero makes his presence felt in a big way as villain. Santhanam is there to tickle the funny bone.

Senthilkumar’s camera has captured the proceedings really well, especially in the second half, while Maragadhamani adds value to the proceedings with his songs and background score.

Rajamouli has successfully stepped into Kollywood with the help of visual effects, screenplay and making. If you are ready to forget logic, Eega / Naan Ee is ready to enthrall you.
